Yes, I do CrossFit
Ok, there it is...for those who don’t already know, I am a member of that "crazy, extreme fitness cult" of CrossFit. Since joining almost five years ago, I have been fascinated with the responses I seem to get when I mention CrossFit. I can meet a complete stranger, and tell them that I do CrossFit and if they also happen to be a CrossFitter I can be sure that I will receive a wink, a fist bump, or a ‘which box?’
Mention that I do CrossFit to a non-CrossFitter and I’ll get a raised eyebrow, maybe a “wow, I’ve heard that’s really hard”, “can’t you get hurt doing that?” Or my favorite, “you don’t look like you do CrossFit?”
But let’s face it: though the CrossFit community is supportive and inspiring, it doesn’t necessarily make it easier to navigate the outside world. There are elements of our everyday lives such as stress, fatigue, junk food, etc., that get in the way of our becoming the best versions of who we are!
You’ve got the fitness part down…GREAT! But now what? What about the rest of the picture—eating well, getting enough sleep, nurturing your relationships, and taking the steps you need to feel fulfilled on every level?
At the gym, the competition is on. But not all of life works this way. In order to create sustainable, healthy lifestyles for ourselves, we must remember to put as much effort into our Nutrition and Lifestyle choices as we do in our WOD's!
I can help you by:
- Finding an eating plan that works for YOUR body, and YOUR lifestyle (there is no "one size fits all diet")
- Helping you balance your CrossFit lifestyle with other parts of your life (hint: have your non-CrossFitting friends and family started to avoid you because you can't seem to talk about anything else but your favorite met cons?)
- Help you to identify and manage the other stress in your life that may be preventing you from meeting your health goals (are you finding that your job, your family, LIFE is just too busy and you can't seem to make time to get to the gym or eat healthy?)
- Collaborating and creating manageable fitness goals
