New Year's Resolutions Are Great, But What's Your Why?
I love looking at social media right now. Most of the messages and posts are so positive and full of hope. It’s as if everyone has pushed the re-set button and our attitude and resolutions are optimistic, hopeful and positive about the future.
We usually start off the New Year with a vision of our end goal.
Cue up images of yourself 20 pounds lighter in a bikini, or having ripped biceps and 6 pack abs or having a well organized pantry that’s Pinterest worthy. We want the final product and we want it right away!
But then something usually happens a few weeks into the New Year, or even a couple months later. That vision begins to fade and our motivation seems to have dissapeared. Those pictures in our mind are replaced with the realities of our day to day life.
While I think those visions of your end result are extremely important, what we tend to forget is to ask ourselves, WHY?
Why is this particular goal important to you? Why do you want to lose weight? Why do you want to start working out? Why do you want an organized pantry?
And not just asking one why. Sometimes you need to ask yourself multiple times to really get to the emotional and real reason you want to achieve that goal.
So, as you’re planning your New Year's goals and resolutions, I challenge you to get to the bottom of your WHY. Because answering that question might help keep you going when your vision has faded!
