A Little About Me...
I’ve always wanted to do something that is in service to others. The idea of helping people, giving advice, and being an inspiration or a mentor for someone is what has always motivated me! I love to listen to people's story, hear about their background and figure out what makes them tick. Over the years I’ve also had a growing interest in Health and Nutrition.
Through my teenage and young adult years, I would use food as a control mechanism to deal with my insecurities. Thankfully it was a phase that didn’t last long. But it did expose me to how food can be so much more than just feeding our body to stay alive. Even as an adult, there have been times when I have used food as an emotional comfort during times of stress or loneliness…can you relate?? Food is just one vehicle that many of us use to express ourselves emotionally and physically.
After I had my children, I became even more conscientious about food and the quality of food we were eating as a family.
I've tried various ‘diets’ and experimented with different food combinations, but after reading some key books about food sources and doing my own research, I was still hungry.
I was in my own fitness and nutrition rut when I ventured into the world of CrossFit. I was extremely intimidated at first, but it sparked something in me and I have grown to love the CrossFit methodology. It also reignited my desire to learn more about Nutrition.
Two years into doing CrossFit I enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where I learned to Coach people in a “whole-listic” way and became a Certified Health and Nutrition Coach.
After all, it isn’t only about eating the correct ratio of carbs and fats. It’s about connecting the dots of our lives to create healthy and sustainable habits that will last a lifetime!
Merging my Health and Nutrition Coaching with my CrossFit experience just made sense to me.
I have made the connection that seeking balance in my life, (including job, family and relationships) being physically active and eating healthy are the basis for a happy, healthy body and mind!
